(I speak as one coming from a Catholic background.)But he got me thinking: Why the phrase "Roman Catholic" instead of just Catholic?
Catholic, as has been stated above, means 'universal'. He has a very catholic taste in music.--------------------Andrew, Ware, England I was raised Roman Catholic...in the States Catholic and Roman Catholic are pretty much synonymous but I guess it isn't so.
And of course he's really in a mess at school because when his pals didn't believe he had a father, he let them think it was MA; now he has a real father and they don't believe that AND they think his father is a criminal. They bond over the helpless feeling of being teased by classmates about foolish things.
